In-house Public Speaking Courses overview
Powerful Public Speaking for Directors, Managers and Leaders
4-, 8- or 12-week in-house courses for companies, held over a period of weeks, with each session a fortnight apart. As The Speaking Director, I give you time to prepare properly and not be rushed. There are no shortcuts to public speaking success. For the longer courses, for the 8th and 12th session respectively, we can leave a longer gap in between to allow more preparation for participants’ final presentations.
You will get relevant content. The Public Speaking Courses are tailored specifically for peoples’ roles and the types of presentations they may have to deliver. I talk to and meet participants individually before to get a good understanding of where they are and what they want to achieve. You will learn how to develop your own authentic style while delivering your company message.
Whilst the focus will ideally be on the types of speeches you make as a Director, either planned, potted, or impromptu, there is the flexibility to speak on anything else if that helps you to feel more relaxed in front of an audience. The most important thing is for participants to feel comfortable speaking in public. There is no pressure. You will be encouraged in a supportive learning environment and have objectives to measure your progress.

In-house Public Speaking Courses for groups
I offer in-house Public Speaking Training and Coaching; the participants could be Directors and Senior Managers in your company. Groups will ideally have a maximum of six people to create a comfortable learning space and give everyone the time they need. As a creative Public Speaking Coach, you can expect a uniquely positive and fun experience with plenty of group interaction.
Participants will learn how to appraise and give feedback on others’ speeches and presentations. Appraisals and giving feedback are crucial leadership skills and also central to how you will learn as a speaker. Depending on the length of the course, you will give between 2 and 6 appraisals. As well as giving you the opportunity to appreciate others’ speechcraft this will give you even more opportunities to present in public.

Speeches and Presentations
- Impromptu, short-form and potted speeches (1 to 3 minutes long) – various opportunities
- Minimal preparation pairs and team presentations (5 minutes long) – various opportunities
- Appraisals of other people’s speeches (3 minutes long) – at least 2, 4 or 6 depending upon course length
- Major set-piece presentation in the last session

Public Speaking Courses learning outcomes
You will learn all the mechanics and fundamentals of being an effective and powerful Public Speaker and Presenter. The sessions are jam-packed with tips and techniques all given in a relaxing and supportive environment. Timeframes are to suit; however, I recommend a two week gap between each session to give people time to prepare. That said, I am flexible, this is your course and I can work to your timetable.
On the 4 week Public Speaking Course, participants will have delivered 2 prepared speeches / presentations (including a major set-piece presentation in the last session) and at least 2 more impromptu or ‘thinking on your feet’ or potted presentations, which are delivered either individually or in pairs or groups.
On the 8 week Public Speaking Course, participants will have delivered 4 prepared speeches / presentations (including a major set-piece presentation in the last session) and at least 4 more impromptu or ‘thinking on your feet’ or potted presentations, which are delivered either individually or in pairs or groups.
On the 12 week Public Speaking Course, we look more in-depth at the art and techniques of great public speaking. Participants will have delivered 6 prepared speeches, up to 8 impromptu or ‘thinking on your feet’ or potted presentations, and also team / group presentations. This option (ideally held over 24 weeks) gives even more time and space for participants to really get to learn how to become powerful and effective communicators.
Appraisal and feedback is a valuable learning and development tool. On the Public Speaking Courses, you will have each given between 2 and 6 appraisals of your colleagues’ speeches. My in-house training will bond you as a leadership team.
By the end of the course, participants will have delivered a number of presentations, including ones that will be of most benefit to you in your business and personal life. You will grow in confidence, hone your public speaking style and become a more proficient Public Speaker.
Public Speaking Courses for Directors next steps
My public speaking skills have hugely helped me to become a better leader. Now I help other Directors and senior leaders achieve their aspirations through becoming powerful communicators. I work with companies in-house and individual Directors in Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and beyond.
It doesn’t have to end with the course. There is also the option of ongoing or ad hoc support for groups or individuals. I can return for refresher sessions when people can deliver prepared presentations to ensure the learning ‘sticks’. I also offer one-to-one coaching and the option to join the Directors’ Speaking Club which is unique for East Anglia.
